Setup

Quick Start

Darkwatch Secure Land is mostly menu driven with some command line options that can be used to further configure your system. Simply click “SET UP” and follow the instructions in the menu to set up your security.

Linden Home Residents and Property Owners

Linden Home residents and other property owners should chose from the menu:

  • SETUP
  • Basic
  • Read the few instructions/questions and respond to them if needed.
    • Operators – You do not have to add extra Operators. You have been added automatically.
    • Visitors – You can add your friends avatar names to the list by typing in chat: /8addf persons.name
    • Targets – You do not have to add any Targets.
    • Attack Type – You need to choose how to treat unwanted people:
      • Eject – sends them outside but they might still annoy you from just outside your house.
      • Teleport – sends them all the way home away from you.
      • Push – gives them a nudge away. This is usually a gentle friendly attack. (Not recommended)
  • Click TurnOn
  • Click Guests. This will remove anyone not on the Guests or Friends list.
  • Click TurnOff to turn off the security at any time.

Don’t be scared to explore the menus and try things. You can always follow these instructions again to put things back to default.

Renting on Group Owned Land

The DSL orb can detect the borders of your land. This allows renters of group owned land and landlords to protect one parcel of land without affecting the neighboring parcels. This setting is enabled in Settings > Weapon > Other Land > Other Land Safe.

Apartment Complexes (Advanced)

Apartment complexes add additional complexity, as there are multiple tenants in the same parcel, in close proximity to each other. Despite this added complexity, the DSL orb does allow for securing a singe apartment per orb. To do so, you need to tell the DSL orb how far away the ceiling and floor are. Parcel boundaries are used to tell the DSL orb where the walls are.

  1. Set the parcel boundaries to that of the apartment size. This means that all apartments are the same length and width.
  2. Inform the orb how far away the ceiling is from the orb. This is done by entering the chat command /8up=number where number is the distance, in meters, from the center of the orb.
  3. Inform the orb how far away the floor is from the orb. This is done by entering the chat command /8down=number where number is the distance, in meters, from the center of the orb.
  4. Set the orb attack range to “ThisLand” and turn Other Land Safe on.

Apartment Configuration

Each DSL orb must be more than 20m apart or menus will show from each orb within 20m. If the orbs cannot be placed more than 20m apart set each orb to a different channel. You can do this by editing the HomeSecurity Channel notecard inside the DSL orb and changing channel=8 to another number. Each orb within 20m of another will need a different number.
